The Book Trust

UK-wide

Contact – Janis Wilson, Regional Manager

The Book Trust does not provide skills development for external people, only for their workforce.

Their partnerships are not with Higher education, but with schools. Their focus is on encouraging people to enjoy reading from an early age upwards and they have a variety of programmes e.g. packs to encourage parents to read to their children, which are free of charge.

To that end, they form partnerships with local authorities, with public libraries and community-based organisations especially in the area of health.

Where relevant placements exist, they are provided by the libraries.

Funded entirely by Arts Council England, the Book Trust has targeted programmes in terms of diversity as well as general, universal ones.

Sometimes, they hold stakeholder events in different venues in the region, often in libraries. These are informal, non-certificated events to give opportunities for networking and sharing good practice.
